There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship”.

5 minutes left! I need to hurry! Oh, I am late again! Why on earth I need to cover more than 4 events in a day? What the hell, Sarah!
2 minutes left. Ok, I am finally there. I am not late. Thank god. I’m entering the hall and see the person I am gonna interview sitting with…. wait, what? Another journalist? What is that supposed to mean? What the hell! I was going to write an exclusive article. And what am I supposed to do? We are going to have the same material! They told me I must be the only one with the best information. So now am I gonna share the info?
”Hi!”,- I greeted her. Her name’s Lou. She worked at some website I even had no idea about. Once when I asked her she told me the name, but I didn’t take it seriously. Well, it wasn’t one of the top websites in the country so I considered it wasn’t worth my attention (hell, I was very young; I didn’t think this girl will have such a huge impact on me later!).
At that time I thougt we were at the same age, she was very thin, with short hair, wearing eye glasses as I did. Well, once one of my colleagues mixed up me with her, calling me ”Lou” instead of ”Sarah”! ”That’s what glasses can do”,-I thought.
…”So we cannot do our interviews in turns, can we?”,- I asked the speaker.
”Unfortunately he doesn’t have much time. The thing is both of you, anyway, will ask the same questions. So why don’t you do the interview together?”-the secretary asked before the speaker opened his mouth.
”Well, you know, I work for the best paper in the country. That means I must be the first one to publish this article. I know you needn’t hurry. So, hun, when are you going to publish it? So that I will publish it earlier than you do!”,- I asked Lou immediately finding the ”solution”.
”Well, I don’t know yet, maybe today or tomorrow. I cannot tell yet”,-Lou answered.
Sarah, think! This is crazy! They used to say that you are the best. You must be the first one. What the hell, I have 2 more events to cover today!
…What is wrong with this girl? She immediately published her article. This cannot be true! This cannot happen to me! I wasn’t the first one! Oh God, I was the second to publish the article… What a shame!
…Nothing happened. They didn’t find out. Obviously, they did not read such kind of websites. Oh God, I am saved!
…I did see Lou after that story. I even forgot about it but she reminded me about that day after many years we became friends. I would have never thought she would be my #BFF one day. And I would never have thought that she would have such an impact on me.
It all started with a Facebook status. I am being serious. We were ”friends” on Facebook and Lou constantly was posting “Who’s joining me tonight to drink something?” (if you are reading this, note that we are under 21 😀 I am not kidding; don’t dare drink alcohol before turning 21).
I was bored. I had nothing to do. Plus, I had the same thoughts for the last few days. So I simply wrote ”Let’s go” without even thinking that she will agree. But then she simply inboxed me (to my surprise). We met at in interesting place and had a wonderful evening. We talked about anything and it was one of the best evenings I have ever had. Since that we became friends and frankly speaking she is one of the best people surrounding me. The girl with short hair and a big heart always cheers me up, makes me happy, shares my concerns, celebrates my victories. She is a person I can always count on. She is the rare people I trust. I hope that I am also a good friend to her.
…I was sitting in front of my desk and I was like ”Sarah, why don’t you write about Lou?”. Helen Keller once noted: ”Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light”. The dark time has come to my life. I know that Lou and I will reach the light!
